Deer Country Quilts Newsletter

  February 2018

Happy February!
I'm so happy it is February.  Could January be any longer?? February has so many great things going for it.  It is a short month! There are more hours of daylight. The superbowl is like a holiday but only if the right teams are playing, which they're not, but at at least it involves food.. February is hearts and chocolate!  I prefer my hearts made from wool and my chocolate dark!  The groundhog is not seeing his shadow in Seeley today so that must mean spring is just around the corner! Hoping your month is filled with hearts and chocolate and  quilting! Happy Quilting! Pam

Spring Retreat 2018!
We have space for at least 2 more overnight retreaters! The dates are March 15-18 and are held at the Double Arrow resort.  The total cost is $300 with half as a down payment.  The rate is based on a double room.  Call the store asap to reserve your spot!

2nd Saturday BOM
Saturday January 13th
We are continuing with our Midnight Clear quilt.

Sewing with Toni
Tuesday 13th and 27th, Saturday 17th
These are open sew days with Toni.   She is there to help you with any of her foundation patterns.  You can also use the time for any makeup class Toni teaches including the dragon fly and humming bird kits from Hoffman. She can also help with the laser precut Crystal kits from Hoffman.
Book Case Quilt with Toni
While in Arizona last year, Toni took a class to learn how to make these fun book case quilts. You can totally customize them to your reading preferences! It is no surprise that Toni's 1st book case has a Halloween theme. She is working on a Harry Potter themed one now. Much of the pattern she has printed on her foundations.  Bring your imagination and create your own one of a kind book case.

Sewing with Sharon
February 14 and 21

This month we are making 16 1/2" (unfinished) blocks to donate to vets. Our friend Janis McRae
is making quilts for St. Vincent dePaul Grace Home for Homeless Vets in Great Falls.  Of course Sharon made blocks right away and we thought it would be great to make more for Janis. Come with your patriotic spirit and fabrics and we will come up with several blocks to make!

The Gentle Art of Hand Stitching
February 16

We have been missing getting together to work on our hand projects so we set aside a day to do just that!  If you have a project you are working on or want to learn wool applique or new embroidery stitches come and join us.  We are always happy to share what we are learning!
