  March 2019

Happy March!
Well it looks like march is roaring in like a lion!  I hope everyone is keeping warm and can keep shoveled out!! I guess it is perfect weather for staying inside and quilting! March 16th is National Quilting Day so that is another perfect excuse for spending the day sewing.  March is also retreat month for Deer Country Quilts so we should get even more sewing in!
We had a great time on Maui except they were having a winter storm.  There was a lot of wind and rain and even snow on the volcano down to 6000 ft which was a record.  We did have sun though and the days were fairly nice.  Evenings were cool and breezy.  However, I will take a bad day in paradise over a cold Montana winter day any time!  Our stay was just to short!
The best thing that happened in February was that little Kaleb got to come home from the NICU! He was there for 3 months there and his momma was in the hospital a month before that.  It has been a long ordeal for my son and his family! He got to come on his due date, Feb. 27th.  There were happy smiles all around!
Happy Quilting, Pam

New Block-of-the-Months for 2019

North Stars by Elizabeth Hartman
Elizabeth Hartman designs such delightful patterns and North Stars is no exception! Each block is 24" square. There are 9 adorable North American animals that create an 82" x 82" quilt.  The cost each month is $25 which includes the book, sashing and binding.

Sew Love Quilt by Heart to Hand
Terry Vick made this sweet quilt using wool applique on cotton backgrounds. The finished quilt comes to 51" x 63".  There are 4 rows that make up the kit and is $40 for each row.  The price includes the pattern and borders (binding not included).

You can call the store to sign up for any of our block of the months.  We will keep your credit card on file and charge and mail your block at the 1st of each month.  You can see our other BOMs that are still available on our web site!

Monthly Gatherings and Classes

Souper Sew-  The 1st Friday of every month bring a project to work on, visit with friends, and have soup made by us.  $5

Foundation Piecing with Toni (3/12, 16, 26)- This month Toni will be teaching a Lone Star quilt from Judy Martin's book Singular Stars!  Toni's star is made with just 2 fabrics!! She used an ombre fabric to create a stunning affect.  You can pick from any of the Lone Star layouts from the book.  There will need to be a prep day to pick fabrics and cut.  You can begin on any of the days but you will need a 2nd day to sewThe book is $29.95.

A Lucky Charming Table Runner (3/13)- LaRee used a charm pack to create this table runner in a snap! The prairie points on the end make it so charming. Use your greens to make a quick change to your table for St. Patrick's Day.  This is a good class to invite a friend whom you would like to introduce to quilting.

The Gentle Art of Hand Stitching- Because we have retreats we will not be having hand stitching this month.

We still have many bolts of fabric that are on clearance however many are gone! You don't want to miss out.  All the bolts of fabric with foil stars on them are now 40% off (one yard minimum)!  Finish a bolt and get 50% off!

Quiltmakers of the Tamaracks, our guild here in Seeley Lake,  meets on the 3rd Wednesday and Thursday for 2 days of sewing. (March 20th & 21st)  They would like invite anyone who is interested to join them.  If you quilt, knit, rug hook, embroider, or any craft, you are welcome to join them at the Community Hall.  By renting the hall for 2 days, they can leave everything set up and sew for however long they wish.  Most of the time lunch is on your own. It is a good way to meet new people in our community that share a love of crafting!  If you are interested you can let Kim know by contacting her at 940-367-4470 or e-mail her at
